Articulating what freelance educators do

Welcome to May! I hope you are enjoying the spring season.

During April I did not have guests on the podcast. Instead, I reflected upon elements of The Freelance Project and shared a resource that will facilitate partnerships between scientists and educators/interpreters.

Here is a recap of the past month:

  • In Episode 11 I begin to address the components of The Freelance Condition project. I start by answering the question, “What is a freelance educator?”

  • In Episode 12 I begin to share what I have learned about freelance educators through the survey. I provide a small peek at how long educators have worked in informal education, how they got their start in the field, and the top five topics they address in their work.

  • In Episode 13 I share a resource that helps scientists establish partnerships with educators working in informal learning environments.

Looking ahead, The Freelance Project and the Talaterra podcast will be the subject of an upcoming article in a magazine about culture and heritage interpretation. I am excited to bring attention to the excellent work of independent educators.

Thank you for your continued interest and enthusiasm about how freelance educators create change.
